Santa Luzia is the only uninhabited island in the Cape Verde archipelago and is located opposite the island of São Vicente. Wild, remote, windswept, and surrounded by crystal-clear waters, it represents the quintessence of untouched nature. Here there are no roads, no villages, no electricity: only silence, sky, ocean, and land. There are several endemic species such as the Tarentola gigas gecko and the Boyd's shearwater seabird.

When to Visit Santa Luzia?

The best times to visit are from November to June, when the sea is calmer and boat access is safer. The island has no infrastructure of any kind, so every visit must be well planned and guided by local experts.

How to Reach Santa Luzia

The island is not regularly connected by ferries or flights. The only way to reach it is by sea, starting from the nearby island of São Vicente (ports of Mindelo or Calhau). Crossings are organized by local fishermen or authorized tour operators, often as part of day trips. Arrival depends on sea conditions and access is subject to environmental regulations.
